Welcome to get to know the new public art works in Seinäjoki Station area!
The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday 26.4.2025 at 14-16 at the new Railway Station Square of Seinäjoki. The event will include a speech by the 1st Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Paula Risikko, PhD, and a greeting by Ville Mäkikoskela, vice of the Finnish Sculptors’ Association. Artists are also telling more about the works in station. The event is open to all and free of charge. During the opening ceremony, visitors will be delighted by hidden surprises and event tickets waiting to be found around the station area near the works of public art. There are a limited number of prizes.

Five new public art works
The new railway station in Seinäjoki was completed in December 2024, bringing five new public artworks to Seinäjoki. The process from designing the artwork for the station to commissioning and completing the artworks took three years. The works were completed and installed during 2024. The works are: Pia Männikkö’s Rönsy in the lobby of the Family Heath Care Centre, Arja Kärkkäinen’s Birthstone integrated into the Family Health Care Centre square, the façade work in the Seipark car park, Juhana Moisander’s Platform 0, Tiina Raitanen’s Waiting and Escorting in the courtyard of the Family Health Care Centre and Marjukka Korhonen’s Rabbit Hut and Ferris Wheel taking over the underpass of the station. The underpass work will be completed in spring 2025.
